September Club, a documentary production company known for collaborations with Netflix, Hulu, and ESPN Films, has begun production on a feature-length documentary about Jeff Webb, the founder of Varsity Spirit and a long-time figure in the cheerleading industry.
The documentary will explore Webb’s career, from the early years of Varsity Spirit to its growth as a major business in the cheerleading and scholastic sports industries. It will also cover his role in the global expansion of the sport of cheerleading, including efforts to gain recognition for the sport by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
“Jeff Webb’s story is one of entrepreneurship, industry influence, and leadership spanning over four decades,” said Jeremy Coon, Executive Producer and Founder of September Club. “We are looking forward to capturing the key moments of his career and the evolution of cheerleading as a sport and business.“
The film will include interviews with industry professionals, archival footage, and behind-the-scenes insights into the development of cheerleading’s competitive side, as well as the business strategies that shaped Varsity Spirit.
Production is currently underway, with details on distribution and a release date expected to be announced in the coming months.
