The unmistakable roar of DadFury is back, now echoing from the sidelines at GU Shamrocks. After a fire destroyed Westside Gymnastics and Cheer on June 13th, forcing its permanent closure just days later, this beloved squad of all star cheer dads has found a new home—and a new chapter.
Known as a “Dad Squad” like no other, DadFury has long been the hype team behind their athletes, bringing unmatched energy, support, and a sea of pink to cheer competitions. Their signature antics, from spirited chants to show-stopping entrances, have made them a beloved staple in the cheerleading world.
The fire that shut down Westside last summer rocked their community, leaving athletes and coaches scrambling for new homes just as the new cheer season approached. Cheer Daily covered the heartbreaking story, highlighting how the Westside family fought to preserve their program.
Chad Hall, a longtime DadFury member, reflected on the challenging journey:
“Parents and coaches tried to keep the cheer program alive, but time wasn’t on our side with finding a building and getting equipment in time for the fast-approaching season. So, we started looking at other gyms that could take on our program. GU Shamrocks welcomed us with open arms, and many of their families were excited to join the DadFury squad this year!”
While athletes and coaches scattered to four different gyms, with 27 finding a new home at GU Shamrocks, one thing was clear: DadFury’s legacy had to continue. Talks with GU Shamrocks’ leadership confirmed that the dads would have a place to carry on their unique culture.
With their new home secured, DadFury embraced the opportunity to grow. GU families not only welcomed the Dad Squad but joined in, swelling their ranks to make this the largest DadFury squad to date.
To mark the new chapter, DadFury teamed up with GK to redesign their iconic pink uniforms, now incorporating GU Shamrocks’ green. The result? A bold, unified look that pays homage to their Westside roots while celebrating their new family.
Last season, Cheer Daily featured a viral video of DadFury hyping up their team before a competition, and it struck a chord, earning more than 5 million views on TikTok. Their energy, heart, and sense of humor resonated far beyond the cheer world, showing that DadFury is more than a support squad—they’re a phenomenon.
As DadFury looks ahead to the new season, their mission remains the same: to rally behind their athletes, energize the crowd, and bring a sense of fun and family to every competition.
“Cheerleading isn’t just about what happens on the mat,” Hall said. “It’s about the people in your corner, the ones who show up to lift you up—literally and figuratively. That’s what DadFury is all about.”
Whether it’s leading cheers, waving signs, or donning their signature pink-and-green uniforms, DadFury is ready to make this season unforgettable—not just for GU Shamrocks but for every athlete and family who encounters their infectious spirit.
Catch DadFury this season hyping up GU Shamrocks and continuing to spread joy and support wherever their teams perform. Look for their signature pink and green uniforms, bigger squad, and unmistakable energy.
