The Davenport Panthers have once again solidified their dominance in collegiate STUNT, clinching their seventh College STUNT National Championship in Division II title in a thrilling showdown against the William Jessup Warriors. The championship game, held at Lipscomb University in Nashville, saw the Panthers triumph with a final score of 15 to 12.
The four-day tournament, held from April 24-27, was a display of intense athleticism and strategic prowess from teams across the nation. Early rounds saw exciting matchups, including a victory for the 8th seed Maryville Saints over the 9th seed Ashland Eagles, and a hard-fought win for the 4th seed and DII newcomer Vanguard Lions against their local rivals, the 5th seed Concordia Irvine Golden Eagles.
As the tournament progressed, favorites emerged, with the top-seeded Oklahoma Baptist Bison and the 3rd seed William Jessup Warriors showcasing their strength in the winner’s bracket. The elimination games provided plenty of drama, with the 9th seed Eagles securing a narrow 16-15 victory over the 6th seed Trojans in a nail-biter.
The semi-final rounds delivered high-stakes competition. The Warriors defeated Oklahoma Baptist 18-13, securing their spot in the championship. On the other side of the bracket, the Panthers battled their way through the competition, including a decisive 15-1 victory over Vanguard and a 14-10 win against Oklahoma Baptist in the final pre-championship game.
The championship game lived up to its billing, with both Davenport and Jessup demonstrating incredible skill and teamwork. In the end, the Panthers proved to be the stronger side, securing their monumental seventh STUNT National Championship. This victory further cements Davenport’s legacy as a powerhouse in the world of collegiate STUNT.
