The 2025 College STUNT National Championships in Division I culminated in a historic victory for the California Baptist Lancers, who clinched their fifth consecutive national title by defeating the Kentucky Wildcats in a hard-fought championship game. The two-day event, held April 24-25 at Lipscomb University, showcased intense competition and solidified a burgeoning rivalry between the nation’s top STUNT programs.
The Lancers, the undisputed 1 seed, continued their dominant run, entering the championship with an unblemished record. They started their campaign with a decisive 15-0 victory over the 4 seed Mercyhurst Lakers in Game 1. The 2 seed Kentucky Wildcats also showcased their strength, shutting out the 3 seed UT Martin Skyhawks with a 15-0 win in Game 2.
The elimination rounds saw Mercyhurst bounce back to defeat UT Martin 15-10 in Game 3, sending the Skyhawks home. The highly anticipated Game 4 pitted the top two seeds against each other, with California Baptist extending their dominance over Kentucky with a 14-4 victory, sending the Wildcats to the elimination bracket.
Kentucky, however, proved their resilience. In a critical elimination game, they decisively defeated Mercyhurst 15-1, earning a coveted spot in the Championship Game and setting up a thrilling rematch against the Lancers.
The Championship Game lived up to its hype, delivering a captivating display of athleticism and strategy. While Kentucky fought valiantly, California Baptist ultimately prevailed with a 17-13 victory, securing their unprecedented fifth straight National Championship.
Under the guidance of Coach Brandon Seagondollar, California Baptist now boasts an astonishing 107-0 record, a testament to their consistent excellence and unparalleled success in the sport. The growing rivalry between California Baptist and Kentucky promises exciting future matchups as both teams continue to push the boundaries of collegiate STUNT.
