Cheerleaders, coaches, and fans, mark your calendars for the UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC), happening February 7-10, 2025, at the Walt Disney World Resort. As the one of the largest high school cheerleading events in the nation, the 2025 NHSCC is rolling out significant updates to enhance competition and excitement.
Key Updates for the 2025 NHSCC:
- Qualification Adjustments: A score of 90 or above at any qualifying regional event now guarantees a bid to the championships. Teams scoring below 90 have a new opportunity to qualify based on depth of division, deductions, raw scores, and national averages, providing more teams a chance to showcase their talents on a national stage.
- Competition Format: The NHSCC is tightening the contest format to no more than three rounds of competition, aimed at intensifying the challenge and spotlighting the highest levels of team performance.
- First Round Shake-Up: In a thrilling change, the first round of competition will be determined by a random draw. Teams will then perform in reverse rank order in subsequent rounds, adding a strategic layer to the competition as teams adjust their performances based on initial standings.
These changes are designed not only to streamline the event but also to increase fairness and excitement for all participants. Detailed guidelines for these adjustments can be found in the NHSCC Event Guidelines.
This championship showcases the evolving aspects of high school cheerleading as a competitive sport. Teams preparing for this event can review the tentative block schedule available online to organize their participation.
